Caring for Your Plants

At Pretty Wild Plants, we grow our plants organically and with care and we want them to thrive in your hands too.

Below you’ll find general guidance to help them settle in. Plants are living things and moving from our growing space to your home is a change. It’s normal for them to need a little time to adjust.

You may notice slight travel stress after arrival, such as a little drooping or softness in the leaves. This is temporary in most cases. Give your plant a few days to acclimatise before repotting or making significant changes to light or watering. Patience at this stage makes all the difference.

If you ever have concerns, please contact us directly and we’ll be happy to advise.

Unpack Your Plants Promptly

As soon as your plants arrive, carefully unpack them and check their condition. Remove any packaging gently and allow the plant to breathe. Place it somewhere bright but out of harsh direct sunlight while it settles.

Watering

Each plant has its own watering needs, but as a general guide, aim to keep the soil evenly moist without allowing it to become waterlogged.

Check the top inch of soil before watering. Overwatering is far more damaging than underwatering, particularly while a plant is adjusting to a new environment.

Lighting

Most of our plants prefer bright, indirect light. A windowsill can be suitable but avoid intense midday sun unless the plant specifically requires it.

Variegated plants may show lighter or cream colouring as part of their natural patterning. This is normal and not a sign of poor health.

Soil

We grow our plants in peatfree, organic compost and recommend continuing with a well draining, peatfree mix when repotting.

Avoid repotting immediately on arrival. Allow the plant a little time to settle before disturbing the root system.
