Sagebrush is a silvery, aromatic shrub native to the dry mountain regions of western North America. Its scent is resinous and grounding, with notes of desert earth and sun warmed pine. Traditionally used by many Indigenous peoples in ceremony, Sagebrush is a sacred plant of purification, insight and spiritual protection.
At Pretty Wild Plants, our Sagebrush is ethically grown here by us in Pembrokeshire, a sustainable alternative to white sage, offering the same purifying qualities without contributing to the overharvesting of wild desert plants.
Uses
Burn Sagebrush as incense for cleansing spaces, ritual work or meditation. It may also be added to herbal blends for protection or used as a fragrant smudge in place of white sage.

Growing Information
Folklore
Sagebrush has long been seen as a guardian herb of the high desert, a plant of vision, clarity and renewal. Early settlers burned it to cleanse homes and ward off illness, while Native American traditions honour it as a sacred purifier and spiritual guide. Its grey green leaves were believed to clear away confusion, sharpen intuition and connect the mind to the wider spirit of nature.
Dried Sagebrush is worked with to establish boundaries, reinforce discipline and clear stagnant or harmful energy. Its Saturnian energy promotes patience, restraint and resilience, making it suitable for protective rituals, banishing workings and practices requiring steadfast focus. Sagebrush supports grounding and clarity, helping practitioners maintain perspective and persistence during magical or spiritual tasks.
