A sacred herb of purification and protection, Hyssop has been used in cleansing rites since ancient times. It was mentioned in the Bible as a purifying herb, used to cleanse temples and homes of negative influences. Hyssop is associated with Apollo, the Greek god of healing, and Asclepius, the god of medicine. In folk magic, it was believed to drive away evil spirits and was often added to water for spiritual cleansing and blessing rituals.
