Organically grown Variegated Mugwort Oriental Limelight - Artemisia vulgaris 'Variegata' in an 8 cm pot.                                                                     A striking perennial growing to 1.2 m (4 ft) with aromatic, lobed leaves edged with creamy white variegation. Small, inconspicuous flower heads appear from August to September. This hardy plant adds texture and contrast to herbaceous borders and gardens.

Uses

Traditionally used in herbalism for its cleansing and protective qualities. In folklore, it is associated with dreamwork and intuition. The variegated form is prized for its ornamental value.

Folklore

Carrying the same deep folklore as traditional Mugwort, the variegated form is tied to Artemis and the moon’s shifting cycles, its green and cream leaves symbolizing balance between light and shadow, intuition and reality. Mugwort has long been used in cleansing rituals and dream work, and its variegation can be seen as a reflection of the interplay between different states of consciousness.

Growing Information

Prefers well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Tolerant of poor soil and drought conditions once established. Space plants 45 cm (18 inches) apart to allow for their spreading habit. Cut back in late autumn to promote fresh growth the following year.
